how do you make it so precise in shapes? 😳

This particular one i started with a single circle using the circle tool in tvpaint just to get a base, and the rest is just trial and error, for example the has mask, the helmet, the goggles etc.. i usually refrain from using any tools because i feel like cheating, but lately I've been using stuff like that to cut down time on the sketching part. Although i think i might go back to no tools at all because i feel it has an impact on the finished product in a sense that the illustration loses some of it's soul :/. I'm kinda torn between doing the drawing in a completely clean and straight manner and doing it freely and without concern for the cleanliness.
Long story short, it's just a lot of sketching to get the feel for 3D, that's why most of my illustrations are generally simple shapes, because my brain can't really process more complex 3D shapes and i don't wanna use any 3D programs.
